EP-17: How to Make 2026 a Great Year for Yourself As An Accountant

A clear and simple 10 step process for getting clarity and direction to achieve your goals in 2026 - Divyesh Dave

📍 Every year we enter a new year with hope.

We tell ourselves, “This year I will study seriously.” “This year I’ll change my job.” “This year I will finally focus on my health.”

But after one or two months, life becomes busy, and most of the time our goals quietly disappear.

The problem is not lack of motivation. The problem is lack of direction.

In today’s episode, I want to share a simple and practical goal-planning system that can help you make 2026 a truly meaningful year, not just another calendar year.

So let’s get started.

Now one month of 2026 is already gone and we are entering February.

If you are already on track with your goals, amazing.

If you are not focused completely, don’t worry. This episode will help you.

Because listen… You still have 11 months left.
But you have to get serious now. Time lost will never come back.

So as you read this, take a diary and make short notes, because this will help you a lot.

Why Goal Planning is Non-Negotiable in 2026

Goal planning is not just a “nice habit.” In 2026 and beyond, it is non-negotiable.

Because without goals, you stay busy… but not fulfilled.

You work hard… but you don’t move forward.

Planning gives your life direction. And direction decides your results.

Goal planning actually starts by asking yourself the right questions.

The 5 Questions That Create Clarity

Before you write any goal, ask yourself these questions:

  1. What do I really want to achieve?

  2. Why do I want to achieve this?

  3. How will I achieve it?

  4. When exactly will I achieve it?

  5. What must I change in my daily life to make it happen?

If these questions are not clear, your life will also feel unclear.

Now once you are ready with this thinking, let’s move to the step-by-step system.

The Practical Goal Planning System for 2026

1) Buy a dedicated diary for your life goals

Not your phone notes.
Not random papers.
A dedicated diary.

This small commitment creates seriousness and discipline. It sends a message to your brain:
“I’m serious about my life.”

2) Write down all your dreams and goals without judging

Don’t judge your goals. Just write them.

Whether it’s 5 goals or 50 goals, write everything that comes to your mind.

If possible, tag each goal in one of these categories:

  • Physical / Health

  • Professional / Career

  • Personal

  • Social / Family

  • Spiritual

  • Educational / Learning

  • Money / Financial

This becomes your life vision on paper.

3) Pause. Breathe. Relax.

After writing, take a deep breath.

This step looks small, but it is powerful because it shifts your mind from chaos to clarity.

Many thoughts will come like, “Can I really achieve this?”

Don’t fight those thoughts. Just breathe and relax.

4) Strengthen each goal with a strong “WHY”

Now go back to each goal and ask:

Why do I want this?

Write 4–5 reasons.

This step is important because it helps you identify whether your goal is truly yours or just influenced by others.

A strong “why” creates strong commitment.

5) Convert dreams into an action plan

Dreams become real only when you convert them into goals.

For each goal, write:

  • Steps needed to achieve it

  • Obstacles you may face

  • Possible solutions (leave space if you don’t know yet)

  • People who can support you

  • Knowledge and skills you need to learn

This is how goals become realistic and actionable.

6) Make every goal time-bound

Don’t write, “I will achieve this in future.”

Write a timeline:

  • Month

  • Year

  • Target date (if possible)

A goal without timeline stays a wish.

7) Pick your Top 10 goals for 2026

Not 50. Not 100.

Pick your Top 10 goals that can positively change your life in the next 12 months.

Write them again on a fresh page.

These become your main focus.

8) Create a vision board (simple one)

You can use a cardboard, A4 sheet, or even a digital wallpaper.

Add pictures or words that represent your top 10 goals.

Keep it somewhere visible.

Because what you see daily, you start believing deeply.

9) Take the first action immediately

This is the most important step.

Planning without action is self-deception.

Take one small action today:

  • If your goal is exam: open your book, make a plan, enroll in course

  • If your goal is health: walk 15 minutes today

  • If your goal is job: update CV, message one recruiter, apply to one role

Small actions create momentum.

10) Make a “Goal Card” for your #1 goal

Take a visiting-card size paper.

Front side: write your top goal.
Back side: write it in present tense like it’s already happening:

“I am achieving ______ by September 2026.”

Read it 3 times daily.

But remember: read it with action, not just imagination.

Final Reminder for You

You don’t need to fix your whole life at once.

You just need direction and one step at a time.

Make 2026 your action year.

Start by planning. Then start doing.

And in February itself, decide:
“What is my focus this month?”

That one month focus can change your entire year.
